First wedding in the Garden.

SAMANTHA JENKINS and Marek Czajkowski chose something old, something new and somewhere green for their wedding yesterday.

The first couple to be married at the Garden of Wales near Carmarthen exchanged their wedding vows in the Garden's gallery before enjoying a champagne reception with 70 guests in the Great Glasshouse. Dr Jenkins, a 26-year-old family doctor, and her 31 year-old bridegroom, also a doctor, chose a bespoke Thai menu for the evening, prepared by the Garden's own chef, Jack Kelleher.

``The Garden's setting was perfect for us because it is so unusual,'' said Dr Jenkins, who lives in Mumbles, Swansea.

``We wanted something that reflected our personalities, and the Garden's relaxed atmosphere is ideal. And the Great Glasshouse is a stunning venue.''

The Garden's licence, granted earlier in the summer, means ceremonies can be held in the Gallery and the Great Glasshouse.
