First senior Welsh cap for Griffiths.
REIGNING Welsh Girls Champion Ella Griffiths will win her first senior cap at the Ladies Home Internationals next month - with Nia Greville also set to make her bow.
The Vale Resort's Grif-fiths, who bagged the girls' title at Abergele last month, has been rewarded for her fine form by being named in the eight-strong Welsh side for the roundrobin event at Royal Wimbledon between September 9-11.
Ashburnham star Nia Greville, herself a former Welsh Girls Champion, will also make her debut with Bethan Morris (Tenby), Georgia Lewis (Llanishen), Lauren Hillier (Newport), Chloe Williams (Wrexham), Samantha Birks and Katherine O'Connor, the West Byfleet-based Welsh champion completing the team.
Wales will attempt to regain the title they lost on home soil at Aberdovey last year when England defeated them on a tense final day to snatch the title on a tally of points gained.
Three of last year's side - Williams, Hillier and Birks - all return while two who also featured last time out, Newport's Jordan Ryan and Megan Lockett, have been named as reserves.
However the side will be weakened by the absence of three-time Ladies' Close Amateur Champion Becky Harries, with the Tenby star unavailable for selection - as is Newport's Jessica Evans, who is still rediscovering her touch after a broken wrist earlier in the year.
Griffiths, Greville, Williams and Ryan are all in action next week at the Ladies British Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship - with the threeday event at Moortown in Leeds beginning on Wednesday.
