First runner for Elaine Burke.

ELAINE BURKE sends out her first runner after being granted a training licence yesterday when Antipas runs in the seller at Catterick this evening, writes Graham Green.

Burke is starting out with 30 horses at Little Spigot in Middleham, which she co-owns, but the string will move when the larger Spigot Lodge stables nearby been relicensed.

Although her husband Karl last month completed a one-year ban from the sport after admitting passing information for reward, he decided against reapplying for a licence with more than half the turf Flat season completed.

Burke said last night: "I would like to say thank-you to several of the owners who have supported us since I became assistant to John [Weymes] in January. A lot of the old owners have pledged their support and I'm looking forward to filling the boxes back up at Spigot Lodge."
