First person involved in case of PM Zhvania's death detained in Georgia.

TyFLyS (CyHAN)- The Georgian Prosecutor's Office arrested Levan Chachua on March 20. Chachua was a medical examiner in the case of Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania's death.

The expert was arrested for negligence, the Georgian General Prosecutor's Office told Trend on March 21.

"Former head of National Forensic Bureau's Medical Expertise Department Levan Chachua showed indifference and negligence while examining Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania's and Raul Yusupov's bodies found on February 3, 2005," the prosecutor's office said.

"The expert inaccurately described the injuries," according to the statement.

"As the examination was imperfect, the law enforcement bodies have to exhume the bodies to reveal the true facts of the case," the prosecutor's office.

A criminal case under Article 342 (Part One), with a penalty of up to three years of imprisonment, was filed against Chachua.

It should be stressed that before his arrest Chachua was questioned for 10 hours at the Main Prosecutor's Office then released but was arrested again an hour later. (Cihan/Trend az)
