First class festive delivery for the elderly.

HUNDREDS of elderly and vulnerable residents in Liverpool will receive surprise Christmas hampers this month.

Kensington Health Energy and Advice Team (HEAT) has helped to create some extra festive spirit this year.

HEAT and Kensington Regeneration staff, along with volunteers, delivered the gifts to people selected from the team's database or nominated by local residents associations.

The hamper project is funded by Kensington Regeneration and Kensington Regeneration Community Interest Company, with additional support provided by Community Seven.

Norma Williams, chair of Kensington Regeneration, said: "This is undoubtedly one of our most popular projects and it helps us to bring some Christmas cheer."

HEAT manager Paula Nolan added: "The hampers will provide people with items they would otherwise be unable to afford."
