First blood cancer diagnosis machine installed at Children's Complex.
MULTAN -- South Punjab first, flow cytometre, a machine to diagnose blood cancer in children, has been installed at Children's Complex to facilitate the patients.
Hospital sources told reporter on Sunday the test fee of blood cancer was around Rs 40,000 in private hospital of Lahore while it would be free-of-cost for indoor patients at the Children's complex while outdoor patients (OPD) will have to pay monomial charges for it.
Purchased with over Rs 10 million, Backman Coulter Navious 3/10 is the USA made, the source said and added that the technologist who is operating the machine has underwent training for it at Shaukat Khanum Hospital, Lahore.
Acute Lymphoblastic Lukemia (ALL) is the most common type of blood cancer in paediatric population ranging from 2 to 9 years old. Children's Complex is the first Govt hospital of South Punjab which has offered the facility, the source said adding that earlier, it was available only in Children's hospital Lahore. It is not less than a blessing for acute Leukaemia (blood cancer) patients of the region, source added.
