First Step Review

First Step Review, National Business Association, First Step Review Program, PO Box 870728, Dallas, TX 75287, (800) 456-0440, FREE.

This software program is the first in a series of computer programs being developed by the National Business Association (NBA) to assist the small business owner/manager in assessing his/her chances of obtaining business loans. NBA developed the program in association with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) in order to provide small businesses with a method of self-evaluation toward qualifying for an SBA loan. The program is designed for use on IBM PC and compatible computers. It walks the user through a series of questions pertaining to his/her management experience, credit history, business operations and business loan goals. The program then calculates the average monthly payment for the businessperson's loan specifications under a variety of interest and time rates. Each question is evaluated and assigned a numerical value. A computer display and/or printout shows the value assigned and the evaluation score for each. A total score of 70 or above suggests the applicant has a good chance of receiving a loan.
