UK-based software applications developer First 4 Internet has introduced a new technology for preventing the copying of CDs.

Extended Copy Protection (XCP) is available in two formats: XCP1 Burn Protect for CDR pre-release production and XCP2 Press Protect for manufactured CDs.

First 4 Internet has claimed that the XCP technology can help protect the rights of record labels and artists and prevent the unauthorised copying of CD content.

No pricing information was disclosed.
