Fireworks law-breakers; Mailbag letters also appear online at www.examiner.co.uk/views-and-blogs/reader-letters.

IF you're thinking of getting a dog for your family in Huddersfield then think again. Unless you happen to chance upon a dog who does not mind the sound of fireworks then you will find it is not worth the trouble.

Fireworks are let off all the year round. Valentines Day, I went out at about 7pm to hear the sound of these wretched things being let off yet again.

The change in my dog was immediate - she began to pant and look round wildly, wanting to turn round and seek safety at home. What is it with people these days? Bonfire night lasts for weeks, New Year is now marred by the sound of 'war breaking out' and sundry celebrations are marked by people who think only of their own enjoyment as they break the law and upset the local pet population and other wildlife.

Thanks, whoever it was in the Greenside area of Huddersfield who thought 'me, me, me' as they broke the law.
