Firemen's fury over hot seats.
They claim the 200 black leather recliners - costing more than pounds 120,000 - are a waste of money.
And they they say there was nothing wrong with the old metal beds they used to doss down on.
The new furniture has been introduced at 41 West Midlands stations.
But union spokesman Tony Nutting said yesterday: "There is a lot of bad feeling about this unnecessary spending."
The old beds were scrapped after a ruling that firefighters should no longer be allowed to sleep between emergency calls.
Fire authority chiefs say the chairs are a compromise so they can still rest - but stay awake.
