Finnish airline Finnair Plc reported on Thursday (7 February) that the group carried 630,600 passengers in January 2008, up by 21.6% from January 2007.

The traffic performance of Finnair Group airlines increased by 17.8% in January, while the capacity grew 18.7%. This resulted in a passenger load factor of 73.4%, 0.6 points lower than last year.

Finnair scheduled traffic increased by 17.2%, as compared to January 2007. Total passenger load factor in scheduled traffic was 66.4%, down by 1.0 percentage points. Number of passengers carried was 522,859, up 1.7%.

Finnair, established in 1923, operates a route network of 50 international destinations and 15 domestic destinations with a fleet of 67 aircraft. The company's largest shareholder is the Finnish state with a 56.3% holding. Finnair is listed on the Nordic Exchange in Helsinki.
