Finn dashes semis hopes for Evans; Tennis VOLLEYS.

HALL Green's Dan Evans reached the semi-finals of the $15k AEGON Pro-Series Men's singles in Cardiff.

The 19-year-oldwon three matches for the loss of just a single set and seemed set for an all-British final with Marcus Willis before both bowed out in the last four.

Evans played impressively throughout the week to defeat compatriot Chris Eaton 6-2, 6-2 in the first round.

He then prevailed over Ireland's Barry King, 6-4, 6-4 and then beat Czech Daniel Lustig 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 in the last eight.

But Finnishworld No.273 Henri Kontinen was too strong in the semi and prevailed 6-1, 6-0 to leave Evans still No.5 in the domestic standings.

JACKIE Robinson and Jenny Waggott inspired Warwickshire Ladies Veterans to victory over Yorkshire in the VLTA Inter County play-offs.

The event, held at David Lloyd Leisure at Brierley Hill, saw Warwick Boat club pair continue their unbeaten run by winning both rubbers.

Alana Parsons and Kathy Brown lost their firstmatch but rebounded to win the second to give the team a 3-1 winning margin.

It was just the latest success for a squad that had already whitewashed Nottinghamshire and - with Liz Litherland in for Brown - beaten Gloucestershire and Northumberland.

SUTTON Coldfield Hardcourts Club have celebrated the redevelopment of their Highbridge Road clubhouse.

The openingwas the culmination of a pounds 10,000 refurbishment of club facilities, which has seen a complete redecoration of the club room.

This work has been completed and funded in partnership between the squash and tennis clubs that share the site.
