Finn dashes semis hopes for Evans; Tennis VOLLEYS.
HALL Green's Dan Evans reached the semi-finals of the $15k AEGON Pro-Series Men's singles in Cardiff.
The 19-year-old won three matches for the loss of just a single set and seemed set for an all-British final with Marcus Willis before both bowed out in the last four.
Evans played impressively throughout the week to defeat compatriot Chris Eaton 6-2, 6-2 in the first round.
He then prevailed over Ireland's Barry King, 6-4, 6-4 and then beat Czech Daniel Lustig 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 in the last eight.
But Finnish world No.273 Henri Kontinen was too strong in the semi and prevailed 6-1, 6-0 to leave Evans still No.5 in the domestic standings.
JACKIE Robinson and Jenny Waggott inspired Warwickshire Ladies Veterans to victory over Yorkshire in the VLTA Inter County play-offs.
The event, held at David Lloyd Leisure at Brierley Hill, saw Warwick Boat club pair continue their unbeaten run by winning both rubbers.
Alana Parsons and Kathy Brown lost their first match but rebounded to win the second to give the team a 3-1 winning margin.
It was just the latest success for a squad that had already whitewashed Nottinghamshire and - with Liz Litherland in for Brown - beaten Gloucestershire and Northumberland.
Results of the Warwickshire Vets competition can be found and entered on a new website, www.
warwickshireveteransleague.co.uk, which also contains a complete list of up-to-date league tables, plus links to the WLTA website and Vets GB website.
