Finland: Deadlock in Food Industry Strike.
May 6 2010 -- Talks between the Finnish Food Workers' Union and the Food and Drink Industries Federation have failed amid a six day strike by the union.According to local media reports discussions have reached deadlock and no new talks have been scheduled.
On Tuesday, the union rejected a compromise proposal for the third time. Workers began a six-day strike involving over 80 food production facilities on Wednesday. It was reported that employers are encouraging companies to reach some form of agreement with employees for now.
The disagreement between the Finnish Food Workers' Union and the Finnish Food and Drink Industries' Federation concerns weekend working hours, among other issues.
