Finnish chemicals group Kemira Oyj reported on Thursday (26 July) an operating profit of EUR106.5m on revenue of EUR1,426m for the financial period January-June 2007.

Both operating profit and revenue for the six-month period increased, respectively from EUR97.0m and EUR1,200m, as compared to the corresponding period in 2006.

Operating profit for the second quarter 2007 amounted to EUR57.6m on revenue of EUR753.0m.

Earnings per share (EPS) in the second quarter amounted to EUR0.27, up from EUR0.26 in the corresponding period in 2006.

The company expects its full-year revenue, operating profit and earnings per share to improve from their 2006 levels.

Kemira Oyj, headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, is a chemicals group that operates in 40 countries. In 2006 Kemira recorded revenue of EUR2.52bn and it has some 8,000 employees. The company is listed on the Nordic Exchange in Helsinki.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 1.49 euros (EUR).
