A man who allegedly burgled a house at night and made off with Dh10,000 was identified by the police later from a piece of paper he left.

According to police sources, the suspect entered the house while the Arab family was outside taking Suhour, and took the money from a safe. He left the paper which was kept with the money and left fingerprints on that.

The incident happened last week at the house of A. W. When the family returned after Suhour, it was found that Dh10,000 was missing from the safe. The family called the police and the officials lifted the fingerprints from the safe and examined the crime scene.

A.W. found a piece of paper on the ground, which he said was with the cash that was stolen from the safe.

The results of the forensic laboratory tests showed that the fingerprints lifted from the safe matched with those of the family members since the wife and children had touched the safe right before the theft was discovered. The fingerprints from the paper matched with that of a Bangladeshi man identified as A. M.

A. M. was arrested and during interrogation, he confessed to breaking into the house and stealing the cash. The Public Prosecution ordered the burglar be remanded to police custody. He was referred to the court to stand trial for breaking into a house and stealing money.
