Fingerlinging good; Smyths reveals its list of top toys for Xmas.

Byline: ARTHUR VELKER

HALLOWEEN is still a month away, but one retail giant today unveils the toys it reckons will create a shopping frenzy this Christmas.

In a new list it has made - and presumably checked twice - megastore Smyths said the musthave gifts include a mixture of classic and contemporary.

But it may just raise the blood pressure of parents trying to put away a few bob for December 25 - which is still 84 days away.

Smyths reckons Operation Escape Room is expected to take the festivities by storm.

The interactive game, involving two to six players, requires participants to solve a series of riddles and is available at the toy store for [euro]24.99. Our e Generation Awesome Academy Schoolroom is another hot contender.

The miniature set allows players to build a school environment and includes a litany of classroom essentials from a chalkboard to tables, chairs and stationary.

But it ain't cheap and retails at [euro]159.99.

Poopsie Unicorn Slime Surprise, a unicorn doll that poops and allows players to customise it with glitter and sparkle costs [euro]59.99. Action games include the NERF Laser Ops Pro AlphaPoint Blaster Pack, which comes with two interactive laser guns that register hits and display health status and ammo. It is on offer for [euro]49.99.

The list also includes long-term favourite, the Barbie Dreamhouse, for [euro]299.99.

It is a spacey dwelling with eight rooms and three storeys, equipped with an elevator and a swimming pool with a slide.

As expected, Lego will also be filling baskets again this year, with the Harry Potter Hogwarts set making the top cut, available from the retailer for [euro]99.99.

Other favourites include the LOL Surprise! Eye Spy Under Wraps Series, Fingerlings Interactive Baby Dragon Sandy and the PonyCycle Unicorn Ride On.

Smyths joint head of marketing Sinead Byrne said: "In addition to some familiar classics including NERF, Our Generation and Fisher Price, it is great to see some new toys feature in this year's list.

"They include Poopsie who happens to be a unicorn that poops slime and Lego's Harry Potter's Hogwarts Great Hall."
