Finance minister, French ambassador discuss France-financed projects in Jordan.
Amman, Feb.24 (Petra) -- Finance Minister Omar Malhas, and France's Ambassador to Jordan, David Bertolotti, discussed Saturday ways of joint cooperation and the French Debt Swap Agreement in exchange for development projects signed in 1999 between the two countries. The meeting also discussed the financial status of projects implemented under the agreement - estimated at JOD2.2 million. Both officials signed an agreement to reallocate the balance to finance development projects, which are financing studies and engineering services for the "Red Sea-Dead Sea Phase I" project (desalination plant in Aqaba), supporting the PPP Unit (the partnership between the public and private sectors unit), and the implementation of the X7 subscriber system in the Al-Yarmouk Water Company (YWC), currently implemented by the Water Authority of Jordan, Jordan Water Company-Miyahuna and Aqaba Water Company (AW). The agreement also entails the participation in establishing two dairy factories for the Ministry of Agriculture and completing programs and activities of the Ministry of Finance's training center in addition to building the Ministry's capacity and modernizing its bodies. Several projects under the French Debt Swap Agreement were financed in the areas of public finance, water, sanitation and training. //Petra// AF 24/2/2018 - 10:09:41 PM
