Finalists in the search for Wales' most promising start-up revealed; RECOGNITION FOR 'INSPIRING' FIRMS HEADING FOR SUCCESS.
THE FINALISTS in the search to crown Wales' most promising start-up business can be revealed today.
Merthyr-based Rollspack, Newport-headquartered Smart Solutions Recruitment and Cardiff-based Zeffa will battle it out to be crowned the Most Promising New Business in the Chambers of Commerce Business Awards - which in Wales are being organised by South Wales Chamber of Commerce.
Established last year Rollspack is a manufacturer of a wide number of wipes for the personal care and healthcare markets. It is the only player in its sector manufacturing products from a clean room.
Its growing client base includes the NHS, as well as retailers Boots and John Lewis. Its products are also being sold into Norway.
Brian Tranter, from Rollspack UK, said: "We are in a very exciting position having achieved in seven months accreditations (ISO9001 and ISO13485, BRC) that it takes most companies years to attain.
"Holding these accreditations and manufacturing in a clean room clearly establishes us as the supplier of choice for premium product manufactured in the UK.
"It is for this reason we highlighted a number of awards which would be complementary to our business and raise our profile among our targeted demographic.
"The Chamber of Commerce Business Award for Most Promising New Business would be a real feather in our cap."
Established with no external funding in November 2007, Newport-based recruitment company Smart Solutions Recruitment has established itself as one of Wales' fastgrowing companies with a projected turnover of around pounds 14m, double that of 12 months ago.
It now employs around 60 staff and is headquartered in Langstone, with offices in Bridgend, Ebbw Vale, Cardiff, Pontypridd, Pontypool and in eight sites in England, including London The company's chief executive, Nathan Bowles, said: "We have worked hard to establish the business over the past three years and are proud of what we have achieved.
"It's all down to the hard work and commitment of the team who support me and I want them to have the recognition that an accolade like this would be bring.
"We're all really excited to have been shortlisted."

Zeffa is an independent media planning and buying agency with offices in Cardiff and Bristol.
Since being set up it has grown rapidly with a UK-wide client base for which it oversees advertising across a wide spectrum of platforms including the internet and television.
Its managing director, James Robinson, said: "Zeffa entered this award not for self preservation but to give recognition to our clients, suppliers and colleagues.
"The success of our business has been down to the trust our customers put into us, our suppliers for giving us access to the best media platforms and our colleagues who have been the backbone of our business. Being shortlisted really is a delight.

"But starting a business is also very rewarding, and I think that it's important to acknowledge the sacrifices people make and the risks they take when setting up a company.
"This award provides the national recognition that new businesses in Wales deserve; my only regret is that we had to whittle the entries down to a shortlist of three."
In all seven awards are being competed in the Chambers of Commerce Awards which will be staged at a ceremony in Cardiff on September 24.
