Filtering Business

A new business setting up shop in Arkansas and a relocation of an existing concern accounted for 14,000 SF of recent leasing activity in Little Rock.

New Haven Filter Co., headquartered in New Haven, Mo., will be setting up shop during early February in a 7,000-SF, free-standing building at 6209 Murray St. in southwest Little Rock.

Donald Kirk has owned the property, which involves 36,300 SF of land, since April 1981 when he acquired it for $169,000. Linda Faulkner of Flake, Tabor, Tucker, Wells and Kelley was leasing agent for New Haven Filter. Bill McClard of McClard Commercial Realty was leasing agent for Kirk.

Mark Stamp, GM of New Haven Filter's Scott City, Mo., facility, will be relocating with his family to head up the local operation.

The company is a warehouse distributor of Luber-Finer filter products with much of the business focused on the truck market. New Haven Filter is a 35-year-old enterprise with facilities located in five Missouri cities: Springfield, Kansas City, Cape Girardeau, Scott City and New Haven.

Little Rock will be New Haven Filter's first venture outside of the Show-Me State. The local operation will have four employees and service all of Arkansas. Overall, the family-owned company has about 25 employees.

A few blocks away to the west, Solid Gold Enterprises has leased the 7,000-SF building at 4607 61st St. The company, led by Dan Melvin, is the Tupperware distributor for Arkansas.

The site covers 49,963 SF of land and is owned by Mark Pickett, owner of Pickett Industries in North Little Rock. Pickett bought the property for $166,000 in January 1986. The listing and leasing agent was J.B. Van Hook Realty in Little Rock.
