HOWTO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON BBC1, 3.10PM

A young Viking becomes friends with one of the dragons that have been terrorising his village and learns that his people may have misjudged the species. Animated adventure, with the voice of Jay Baruchel.

Sunday

ET - THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL STV, 3.20PM

Steven Spielberg's sci-fi classic is a warming tale of friendship. A young alien finds himself left behind when a group of his kind pay a visit to Earth. Stranded and alone, the creature seeks refuge in the home of a suburban family. He finds a friend in 10-year-old Elliott (Henry Thomas) who protects him from the agents who are tasked with hunting him and tries to help the visitor get back home.

Monday

AT A ONEMENT STV, 10.15PM

Keira Knightley and James McAvoy star as a pair of star-crossed lovers in this highly-acclaimed war drama by director Joe Wright. In a pre-Second World War England, Cecilia and Robbie's budding relationship is ruined when Cecilia's jealous younger sister Briony (Saoirse Ronan) accuses Robbie of a terrible crime he didn't commit. The fallout from the lie affects their future forever.

Tuesday

PIRATES O F THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END BBC1, 11.25PM

In the final instalment of the trilogy, Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is trapped in Davy Jones's Locker, and in his absence the East India Trading Company is taking over the seas. Jack's former crew and friends must join forces with Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) to save Captain Jack and bring the entire pirate community together.

CAPE FEAR STV, 12.05M

So the bells have struck, glasses downed and kisses given. What now? Well for those of you staying in, bringing in 2015 with this thrilling 1991 film starring Robert De Niro and directed by Martin Scorsese is a very good suggestion. A remake of the 1962 it stars De Niro as rapist Max Cady who is released from prison and exacts revenge on the lawyer who could have kept him out of jail.

SNOWWHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN CHANNEL 4, 8P

A dark take on the classic fairytale. Chris Hemsworth is cast as the Hunstman who is sent to track down Snow (Kristen Stewart) so that Queen Ravenna can stay forever young and beautiful.

Friday

UP BBC1, 4.30PM

Among Pixar's very best works, this animated adventure tells the story of pensioner Carl Fredrickson (voiced by Ed Asner) who, after the death of his beloved wife, decides to fulfil their dream of travelling to Paradise Falls. He turns his house into a makeshift airship with hundreds of balloons but only when airborne does he realise he has a stowaway - an eight-year-old boy scout.
