Film: Berry to produce blaxploitation classic.

OSCAR winner Halle Berry is to produce a remake of classic 1970s movie Foxy Brown and appear in the starring role.

The original film was an early blaxploitation movie starring Pam Grier as a woman bent on avenging the murder of her boyfriend at the hands of gangsters.

Berry and her producing partner, Vincent Cirrincione, will be executive producers on the project. They are aiming to update the character in the hope of producing an ongoing series of action films.

The 33-year-old will also appear in and produce a new film called Brown-Eyed Girl, according to US trade newspaper Variety.

This follows the ups and downs in love and life of a contemporary woman, with both Berry and Cirrincione taking hands-on producer roles.
