Filipina gives birth aboard Saudi plane.
Salima Judaman of Basilan, Mindanao on Tuesday gave birth to a three-kilogram baby girl aboard flight SV-872 reportedly five hours after the plane took off from the airport of the Red Sea city of Jeddah, Saudi and Philippine reports said.
Judaman, a 30-year-old childcare provider in Jeddah, was on her way to the Philippines for a vacation and was expected to give birth in August.
Inter Aksyon reported that Salima, a 51C passenger, felt a sudden pain, but ignored it, confident that her baby was due in August.
However, when the pain became unbearable, she called for help and, fortunately for her and the baby, a Saudi nurse was on the flight.
The nurse, assisted by the cabin crew, helped Salima give birth to a healthy baby girl.
Inter Aksyon said that medical personnel at Ninoy Aquino International Airport who attended to the mother and daughter when their flight landed at 12.54pm on Tuesday suggested Salima name the baby Saudia, but she decided to name the child, her second, Victoria.
