Fight for the title; Cleveland and District Summer Table Tennis League.

Byline: ALAN RANSOME

WITH both Ormesby I and Northfield E in contention, an interesting battle is developing for the Third Division of the championship.

In last week's fixtures, Ormesby I lost ground when they were beaten 6-4 by the club's H team with Mike McMahon and Calum White winning two sets each. Simone Onnis and Peter Seaton replies with two each for Ormesby I. Northfield E improved their chances when they defeated their own C team by 9-1 with hat-tricks from Steve Bannister and Neil Rowland.

However Northfield lost ground when they visited the team in second place, Hartlepool B, and were beaten 8-2 with hat-tricks from Keith Thomas and Anthony Jackson.

Darlington SRM are leading the table with 66 points. All the teams below them have matches in hand and if those fixtures can be turned into positive results a very close finish is in anticipation.
