Fifty cats spayed every month.

OVER ONE and a half thousand stray and feral cats have now been spayed by the registered animal society, Catsnip, since its formation in June 2006.

According to Catsnip, the organisation spays and neuters colonies of Limassol's stray and feral cats from the streets, public gardens and beach front of Limassol using humane traps. All cats are returned back to their capture point for release within 48 hours of their operations by local vets.

"As an organisation we are grateful to both the public for their donations of bric-a-brac, books, DVD's and clothes which we sell at car boots to pay for the operations and to our vets who carry out up to 50 operations for us every month," said the announcement.

As a registered society, Catsnip works with both Limassol's Veterinary Department and the Limassol District Animal Committee.
