Fieldcrest Canon leases 64,000 sf at Rock Center

Fieldcrest Cannon, Inc., a leading manufacturer of home furnishings, will locate its New York headquarters at Rockefeller Center. Under a 16-year, six-month lease, the company will occupy over 64,000 square feet of office space at 1271 Avenue of the Americas, the Time & Life Building. The aggregate rent for the term of the lease is approximately $40 million.

According to Fieldcrest Cannon officials, the redesigned Rockefeller Center location will serve as the company's New York headquarters with showrooms, design, advertising, marketing and sales offices for its home furnishings, domestics, linens and the Karastan Bigelow carpet and rug divisions.

The lease transaction was negotiated on behalf of the landlord, Rockefeller Center North, Inc., by Robert F. Scally, assistant vice president of Rockefeller Center Management Corporation and on behalf of the tenant, by Stephen R. Downes, senior director and Joseph Sarno, Jr., commercial broker of Cushman & Wakefield, Inc.

In addition to representing the tenant in lease negotiations, Cushman & Wakefield's Development Consultant's Group is representing Fieldcrest Cannon as project manager for the renovation project. Plans for the grand opening of the company's new showrooms are scheduled for the 1992 April market show.
