Fiberweb sells melt blown business to Web Dynamics.

Roll goods suppliers Fiberweb North America, Simpsonville, SC, and Web Dynamics, Flanders, NJ, recently revealed plans to transfer Fiberweb's melt blown products to Web Dynamics.

Under terms of the agreement, which was officially concluded December 7, Fiberweb will discontinue the production and sale of its monolithic melt blown products by the end of February 1993 and assist in the transfer of existing customer needs to Web Dynamics, a specialty manufacturer of uniform single-layer melt blown materials.

Fiberweb, which is the seventh largest manufacturer of roll goods in the world, will keep its "Polyweb" trade name as well as its melt blown manufacturing line, which was relocated last year to its Simpsonville site. According to vice president/general manager, medical James Posa, the company is doing substantial development work with composites that incorporate melt blown materials and Fiberweb will continue to operate the line for that purpose. The melt blown agreement also does not affect the Fiberweb Group's French Sodoca facility, which has a semi-commercial melt blown line.

Web Dynamics has manufacturing facilities in Flanders and Stroudsburg, PA, and is in the process of constructing new corporate headquarters in East Stroudsburg, PA, with a planned completion date of July 1, 1993. The new 40,000 sq. foot facility will also encompass manufacturing space for the expansion of melt blown capacity. The company, which specializes in the medical, industrial and battery separator industries, has already expanded capacity by 120% in 1992 and plans to expand by a further 100% next year. At least two new melt blown

lines will be added, with the first expected online in April.
