Fibertex invests in technical business.
The Fibertex Group, Aalborg, Denmark, is upgrading its Technical Divisions' production facilities in Denmark and the Czech Republic with two new production lines, representing a reported 18 million [euro] investment. The company has announced it will add a new airlaid line in the Czech Republic and a needle-punch line in Aalborg. The two lines, which will be operational in mid 2008, will allow Fibertex to increase its role in technical markets by targeting important segments such as automotives with the new airlaid line in the Czech Republic.
In 2006, Fibertex's Technical Division increased its sales 9% to reach $90 million. In recent years, this segment of the business has benefited from the acquisition of Czech technical nonwovens maker Vigona in 2004 as well as subsequent improvements to this operation. Fibertex executives have indicated that its presence near many Tier One automotive suppliers in the Eastern Block countries has improved the company's position in the automotive market. Other markets served by Fibertex's technical division include furniture and bedding, filtration and geotextiles.
