Festive singing.

Metrocentre shoppers and staff will take a break from festive fervour tomorrow to take part in a Christmas carol service.

The traditional service is taking place at 3pm in Exhibition Square outside of Woolworths with music provided by Wallsend Salvation Army band led by the MetroCentre's chaplain, Lyn Jamieson.

She said: "The service provides an excellent opportunity to relax and enjoy the celebration of Christmas.

"The service promises to be a lively event and all shoppers and staff are more than welcome to participate."

Pupils from Ryton Comprehensive School choir have volunteered to sing a selection of Christmas carols.
