Festive flutes: toast the New Year with a tasteful twist on traditional style.

Sipping champagne from an elegant crystal flute is a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays. The tall, thin flutes are now preferred over the saucer-shaped champagne glasses because the elongated, narrow vessel retains the carbonation, or bubbles, that may evaporate with the traditional bowl-shaped coupes. Plus, the long stem allows you to sip without your hand's warmth taking the chill off the champagne. Here are a few styles of flutes to help you toast the New Year.

[1] Mikasa Cocoa Blossom Flute ($29.99,

[2] Baccarat Narcisse Flute ($260,

[3] Waterford Marquis Flutes ($49 per pair,

[4] Lenox Opal Innocence Flute ($39.95,

[5] Waterford Ballet Ribbon Flutes ($139 per pair,

[6] Lalique Angel Flute ($405,
