Fenerbahce faces no easy task at home against y-stanbul BB.

ySTANBUL (CyHAN)- Fenerbahce, fresh from its UEFA Europa League match against Borussia ME[micro]nchengladbach at E[currency]E-krE- Saracoy-lu Stadium in KadykE[micro]y on Thursday, faces another toughie against ystanbul BE-yE-kE-ehir Belediyespor at the same venue, this time in week 15 of the domestic Spor Toto Super League on Sunday evening.

The interesting thing is that both Fenerbahce -- commonly called the Yellow Canaries -- and Gladbach had already qualified for the Europa League last 32 and so there was virtually nothing at stake other than pride and prestige.

The Canaries, after coming from behind to draw 1-1 away with struggling Kayserispor away in week 14 last Saturday, cannot afford to drop points at E[currency]E-krE- Saracoy-lu on Sunday.

But Aykut Kocaman's Canaries, however, will be up against an emboldened ystanbul BE-yE-kE-ehir Belediyespor side that beat Sivasspor 2-0 at home last Sunday for its first victory under coach BE-lent Korkmaz. For the record: Korkmaz took over the ystanbul BB helm on Nov. 13 after Portuguese coach Carlos Carvalhal was given his marching orders following a string of dismal results.

And with a Europa League last 32 berth in hand, the Canaries are expected to be more relaxed and confident going into the match against Korkmaz's men at E[currency]E-krE- Saracoy-lu. Senegal striker Moussa Sow is scoring incredible scissor kick goals, and Dutchman Dirk Kuyt is also performing well upfront -- making Fenerbahce the odds-on favorite.

But this is football, the most unpredictable sport on the planet, and so common sense suggests that ystanbul BE-yE-kE-ehir Belediyespor be given a chance -- albeit a small one -- on Sunday.

Another Super League match of great interest on Sunday pits newcomer Akhisar Belediyespor against rampaging Medical Park Antalyaspor. With eight wins, two draws and four defeats in 14 outings Mehmet Euzdilek's Antalyaspor is the winningest team in the league and one of the top championship contenders this season. Antalya beat Mersin ydman Yurdu 1-0 at home in week 14 and is expected to overcome Mersin by a wider margin and take home the maximum points.

Trabzonspor, which crushed Genclerbirliy-i 4-0 in Ankara on Monday, hosts Kayserispor at HE-seyin Avni Aker Stadium. (Cihan/Sundays Zaman) CyHAN
