Female and male volunteers of NYC honored with certificates, remuneration.
PESHAWAR -- Additional Secretary Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs Mohammad Babar Khan Saturday honored the female and male volunteers of National Youth Carnival, the mega event that involved more than 35000 students of 110 education institutions and 17 religious seminaries from across Pakistan.
Besides him, DG Sports Junaid Khan, DG Youth Asfandyar Khan Khattak, Director NAB Mian Waqar, Director Youth Aziz Ullah Khan, CEO of LC-NYC2017 Usman Khan and large number of spectators also attended the colorful gathering.
Miss Muskan and Waqas Khan grabbed the best volunteer award individually, while the team of social media and security shared best team award. The teams of reception, logistic, registration were also awarded commendation certificates.
Speaking on the occasion, DG Youth Asfandyar Khan Khattak lauded the role of more than 300 female and male who volunteered their services for the just cause of playing a key role in the success of the mega event.
He said the work of the security team and social media teams were par excellent. 'We have achieved a media goal of 50 million on Tweeter, while the electronic and print media had given extensive coverage which help us in portraying a soft image of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the rest of the country and event to the western world,' Asfandyar Khan Khattak added.
He also lauded the students from 110 educational institutions and 17 Madras students for their active participation in the National Youth Carnival. 'The government wants to involve the youth in healthy activities and that is why National Youth Carnival was organized with youth from across Pakistan have been involved first at Divisional level and then at national level in 30 different contests. '
It is worth mentioning here that University of Punjab retain NYC-2017 title for the second consecutive years by winning 11 gold and four silver medals in a total of 30 different disciplines during four-day NYC.
Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad with one gold and four silver medals got overall runners-up position, KMC Peshawar, COMSATS Abbottabad and Gomal University DIKhan won two gold and two silver medal by sharing joint third position and Abdul Wali Khan University won two gold medal got fourth position respectively.
He said youth is 60 percent of the total population but no govt in the past gave due attention to youth and their development. He said under various programs they have introduced now health, education, sports and youth affairs activities through a comprehensive planned introduced and a sum of Rs. 2 billion has been allocated.
He said the Annual Developmental grant of Rs. 1 billion for the youth department will be given even in 2018 as well. He said the province is blessed with skilful and talented youth but due to lack of facilities to the youth in various sectors such talent becomes wasted.
He also lauded teams of Liaison Corporation for their dedicated efforts in bringing and involving the youth in healthy activities. He said youth are actually the motivated force behind the success of any nation and that is why the govt in KP has given due importance to the youth. At the chief guest gave away commendation certificates, shield and remuneration to the volunteers of NYC-2017.
