Felicitation for 30 years of political life of Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.

Colombo, June 3 -- On the 2nd of June 2013, the grand finale of a series of ceremonies held to felicitate Nimal Siripala de Silva, Leader of the House and Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management was held in Badulla, his home town for completing 30 years in politics.

President of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapakse graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

An alms giving to 536 Buddhist monks will be held on June 1 in Badulla to invoke blessing on the Hon. Minister.

The first of the felicitation ceremonies was held at BMICH on May 20 with the participation of Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa as the chief guest where the book Golden Voice in the House - Nimal Siripala ( Methi Sabhaye Rana Handa-Nimal Siripala) was launched at the ceremony followed by a felicitation ceremony was at Campbell Park and another to be held at Colombo Municipality grounds.

Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva initiated his political career as a member of the Colombo Municipal Council in May 1983.

He was later elected to Parliament in 1989 and rendered a great service to the nation and to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party when the party was going through hardships.

Minister de Silva rendered a great service as the former Health Minister and he was elected as the President of the World Health Organization, the first in South Asia.

He has rendered a great service to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and the UPFA government at crucial times.He comes from a highly respectable family in Uva with a large extended family who are very proud of his achievements.
