Fees and funds collected by municipalities boost for budget.

Manama: The provisions of law on the general state budget are to be applied to municipalities.

Under the move, the fees and funds collected by municipalities will be incorporated into the general state budget.

The municipal revenues (taxes and funds) will thus be included in the state public account.

The move was announced as His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting.

The session approved the amendment of certain provisions of the law on municipalities, based on a proposal by parliament.

- The Premier congratulated His Majesty King Hamad and people of Bahrain on the Prophet's birthday.

- Candidates running in the 2018 parliamentary and municipal elections were wished success. The session also extended good wishes to voters who will take part in the polls on Saturday.

It commended the crucial role of candidates and voters in supporting the democratic process in Bahrain.

- A draft bill on amending articles of the law on work in the private sector was referred to the executive committee, chaired by the Crown Prince.

- The statement issued by the Saudi Public Prosecution regarding the killing of Jamal Khashoggi was welcomed.

"The statement reflects Saudi's firm commitment and keenness to observe justice and enforce the law and ensure judicial probity and independence," said the Cabinet.

It stressed the importance of the statement which places the case in its criminal context and puts an end to attempts to politicise the issue and target Saudi Arabia.
