Federal Tire.

Federal Tire, manufacturers of passenger, truck, bus and industrial tires in Taipei, Taiwan, will locate its North American headquarters to Akron, OH. Federal Tire exports its tires to the United States through Falken Tire, a major distributor in California. Sumitomo Rubber Industries of Japan owns 6% of Federal Tire. Unit sales in the U.S. are projected to be 500,000 tires in 1992, up from 300,000 in 1991. The company anticipates the possibility of an expanded operations and retread facility in Akron in the near future. The facility would also house other related manufacturing concerns. Federal Tire also manufactures a variety of rubber products, conveyor belts and chemical products marketed in Europe, Taiwan, Middle East and North America.
