This third edition is designed to be used in preparation for the IRS Enrollment examination, as well as for continuing education programs which are accepted by the Department of the Treasury (IRS) and the Accreditation Council for Accountancy. The 720-page, 23-chapter book contains 1,446 multiple-choice and 984 true-false questions arranged in a two-column format with answers and explanations presented alongside the questions. In addition, there are three introductory chapters detailing how to use the book and how to apply for various accounting examinations. The majority of questions contained in this reference are derived from the CMA, CPA and IRS Special Enrollment Examinations and most have been modified to reflect changes in the law. The remaining questions have been prepared by the authors as well as other professors. This revised edition incorporates the Tax Reform Act of 1986 as well as the 1987 Revenue Act and covers a range of subjects including: capital gains and losses, deductions from AGI, depreciation and ACRS, corporate formations and operations, income taxation of estates and trusts, deferred compensation, employment taxes and withholding, preparer rules and practices before the IRS, sale of business property and nontaxable property transactions.
