1983 - His Highness Shaikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, inaugurated the Wadi Ham in Fujairah, the biggest dam complex constructed in the UAE. Saeed Al Raqabani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, said the main dam had a height of 16 metres and a width of 92 metres. The northern dam is 1,450 metres long and the southern dam 750 metres long. Shaikh Hamad cut the traditional ribbon at the site of Wadi Ham to mark the event. Raqabani said that the Wadi Ham had been built at a cost of Dh27 million over a period of 14 months. The dam is 2.8 kilometres long and the reservoir has a storage capacity of 10 million cubic metres of water annually.
