Fazle Rabbi successfully defended his Ph.D thesis.

ISLAMABAD -- Fazle Rabbi son of Prof Dr Sattar Khan, Department of Pharmacy, University of Peshawar has successfully defended his Ph.D thesis.

He did his research under the supervision of Prof Dr Amir Zada, while co-supervisor was Dr Achyut Adhikari (University of Karachi). The title of his research was 'Biological Screening and Phytochemical Studies of Sterculia Diversifolia G.Don Stem Bark and Leaves', a press release issued here Wednesday said.

The plant is native to Australia. The local name of this plant is Kurrajung. The committee of examiners comprises Prof Dr Nadeem Irfan Bukhari (Punjab University Lahore), Prof Dr Haroon Khan (Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan) and Prof Dr Mohammad Saeed (University of Peshawar).

The research is mainly based on fever, pain, cancer, epilepsy and diabetes relieving compounds present in Sterculia Diversifolia. He has already published two research papers in international journals.
