Fatfat dismisses dialogue between Future, Hezbollah 'waste of time'.

NNA - Member of Parliament, Ahmad Fatfat, on Sunday dismissed the ongoing dialogue between Hezbollah and Future Movement as a waste of time due to the fact that said dialogue has failed to thrash out the most pressing issues so far. Interviewed by the Voice of Lebanon radio station, the lawmaker also ruled out any tangible progress concerning the presidential settlement. "It's just a series of thoughts being contemplated," he explained, stressing, "the Lebanese presidency was not a strictly Christian affair." Moreover, Fatfat confirmed the Future Movement's approval of MP Sleiman Frangieh's presidential candidacy, "If the latter proves successful assuming the role of a centrist." "Frangieh's project makes sense, unlike FPM leader Michel Aoun's suggestions," he said, confirming as well objections within the Future Movement ranks against Frangieh's candidacy. "The first official step in the presidential file was Frangieh's declaration of his candidacy. Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri is to decide the timing of his adoption of Frangieh's nomination whenever he deems appropriate. Things are heading towards further complications in the region, a thing which will reflect negatively on the internal situation and delay the election of a President," Fatfat warned. "The Christian leaders put themselves in trouble after announcing in a Bkirki meeting the election of one of the four main Christian poles for the presidency," Fatfat added, stressing the need for the next president to enjoy the minimum requirement of Christian approval. ==============R.H.
