FastParts.com Introduces Major Site Enhancements; New Features Enhance Usability and Improve Customer Service.

Business Editors

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 9, 2000

FastParts.com, a leading Internet marketplace for electronic inventory, today announced a major upgrade to its web site aimed at providing an easier and more convenient way for members to find the products they need, obtain customer support and complete transactions.

In addition, FastParts.com has redesigned the look-and-feel of the site, and re-named its exchange and catalog services to establish a more consistent brand and greater name recognition.

FastParts.com is streamlining the procurement of electronic components and manufacturing equipment by enabling purchasing and material management professionals to quickly and easily locate electronic inventory and negotiate a fair market price online. The FastParts.com marketplace is a neutral and anonymous trading environment that guarantees timely payment to the seller and provides a one-year warranty on electronic parts to the buyer.

Enhancements to the site include two new demos that illustrate the buying and selling process, and the ability to perform a search and get help on every page, reducing the time it takes to locate a product and complete the transaction. This is complemented by extended technical support hours from 7AM to Midnight, Pacific Standard Time, Monday through Friday. In addition, FastParts.com has introduced FastTrack(TM), a new feature that allows members to view top selling products available on its popular ComponentConnect(TM) exchange.

To increase name recognition and reinforce its branding efforts, FastParts.com has renamed its exchange and catalog services. Trading Exchange(TM) becomes ComponentConnect(TM), Equipment Exchange(TM) becomes EquipmentConnect(TM) and its catalog service is now Century Catalog.

In addition, FastParts.com has implemented the E.piphany E.5 (TM) Service Center component to enhance FastParts.com customer service. With the E.piphany solution, FastParts.com's customer service representatives will gain additional insight to its members to help personalize their buying and selling experience.

"FastParts.com is constantly evolving its service offerings to more effectively meet the needs of our members, who, in this aggressive market, require fast and efficient access to information to support their purchasing decisions. These latest enhancements aim to help our members optimize their experience with FastParts.com, making it easier and quicker to find what they're looking for and complete the transaction," commented John Spensieri, senior vice president of sales and marketing.

"With consumers' e-commerce choices rapidly increasing, E.piphany is helping companies like FastParts.com build lifetime member loyalty," said Karen Richardson, executive vice president and general manager for North America Sales at E.piphany. "A key to success in the new customer-driven economy is being able to quickly analyze member data that is obtained from various channels and then turn that data into a single, enterprise view of the member from which actions can be taken in real time."
