Fashion brand has designs on 80% of the market.

Dubai: Royal Sporting House (RSH) Middle East has recently added a new fashion brand to its portfolio and is set to open six to seven retail outlets in the UAE and Saudi Arabia by the end of the year.

"We're introducing for the first time an Italian fashion brand called Gaudi," said Poonam Chauhan, senior brand manager of Gaudi Italia. "We've just opened two stores carrying the same label in Dubai and more will be coming."

RSH has a number of fashion lines in its portfolio, including Bebe, Ted Baker, Evita Peroni, Rockport, Reebok and Speedo, among others.

The company opened Gaudi's first two outlets in the Middle East region at Dubai Festival City and Dubai Mall this month. Four more stores will be coming up this year, two in Abu Dhabi and two in Saudi Arabia. The seventh shop, which is still in the planning stage, will most likely be in Dubai.

Gaudi is an Italian brand that originated 20 years ago in Carpi, a few kilometres away from Milan. The label carries a range of clothing for men and women, from denims, shorts and T-shirts to evening wear.

"We're expanding aggressively in the Middle East region and we hope that after one year, the brand will capture 80 per cent of the market," Chauhan said.

"I strongly believe that a premium brand like Gaudi will perform exceptionally well in this new market," added Stefano Bonacini, Gaudi CEO and owner. "The Middle East has risen to the forefront as a rapidly emerging market in terms of fashion retailing. Dubai specifically is the standard bearer in this regard,"
