Farmers should control whitefly attack on vegetables.

FAISALABAD -- Farmers have been advised to take immediate steps to control the imminent whitefly attack on vegetables crops. Assistant Director Information Unit Agriculture Department Dr Qavi Irshad told reporter on Tuesday that whitefly was a dangerous pest which remains active round the year. Its attack was witnessed at vegetable crops grown near cotton fields.

Therefore, the growers should conduct pest scouting of their crops twice a week so that pest attacks including whitefly could be controlled before any damage of the crop. He also advised the farmers to listen to the weather reports on radio, television or other media before watering crops and spraying pesticides. He also advised the cotton growers to use recommended pesticides to control attack of whitefly and other pests and for this purpose, they can get guidance, help and information from toll free agri helpline 0800-15000 and 0800-29000 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
