Farbstoffe fur Lebensmittel (Colours for Foods)

The West German Dyestuffs Commission was founded in 1949 as an expert commission for the evaluation of problems concerning food colorants. It is the oldest senate commission in the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and has the task of ensuring that the public is protected against possible harm from dyestuffs and related substances. This body is composed of members who are knowledgable scientists in the field but they sit as an independent body.

The Commission has published the results of its work and these reports come in loose-leaf form. Work from both home and overseas is included in the text that is in the German language. Not that that presents too great a problem as in the actual working sheets not so many words are used and many of them are of a scientific nature and therefore fairly international.
