Fantastic Hibbott reigns in Dordrecht.


AT the European Junior Championships in Dordrecht in the Netherlands, Holly Hibbott of Southport set a new British Age Group Record in the 800m Freestyle when she posted an 8 seconds Personal Best as she took the Silver Medal.

In the nal of the 400m freestyle she achieved another PB when nishing in 5th place. In a busy schedule Hibbott just missed out on the nal of the 200m freestyle and also helped Great Britain to 5th place in the 4x 200m freestyle relay.

in Glasgow, Fran Halsall (Pictured Above) became the rst woman to win both the 50m freestyle and 50m buttery gold medals, doing so with Commonwealth Records in both.

It was another excellent weekend for the areas open water swimmers. On Saturday many took part in the Howe Bridge Llyn Padarn 2 miles and 4 miles Championships. Tom Roberts once again T led form the front in the 4 miles event nishing in a Championship Record time of 1 hour 27 mins 2 secs.

Sister, Sarah Roberts took the 2 miles freestyle title whilst Ellie Knight was the rst breaststroke swimmer home. With the evergreen Andy Sherratt in ne form the three ensured that Warrington Dolphins claimed the TeamT Trophy.

is weekend there is a double helping of open water swimming in Liverpool. On Saturday morning, starting in the Salthouse Dock, it is the Warrington Dolphins Championships, with 1 mile, 2 miles and 4 miles distances, whilst on Sunday morning the Queens Dock hosts 750m, 1500m and 3k events.

As anticipated, the World Junior Open water Championships scheduled for Eilat have been cancelled. FINA are now busy making arrangements for an alternative course with Lake Balaton in Hungary being the most likely venue on the rst weekend in September.
