Fans told to boycott top league clubs; PRICES.

FOOTBALL fans should teach Premiership clubs a lesson by shunning them and watching non-league teams instead, Lib Dem President Tim Farron said yesterday.

The Blackburn Rovers fan said top English clubs were taking advantage by this year putting up ticket prices an average of 11.7%.

He was speaking after a study showed the average cheapest ticket at a top-flight club had risen from PS24.87 in 2011 to PS28.30.

Newcastle United offer the cheapest day out in the Premier League, with tickets from PS15. But a top game at Arsenal can cost PS126.

Mr Farron said: "You can make a valuable protest against the likes of Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool or indeed Blackburn Rovers by backing your local non-league side."
