Fans put 'O Holy Night' at top spot; CAROLS.

CHRISTMAS carol fans have voted O Holy Night their favourite festive singalong.

It pushed Silent Night into second place and has topped the poll regularly since 2003.

The song dates back to 1847 but has been brought up to date in recent times by artists such as Mariah Carey.

Gustav Holst's version of In The Bleak Midwinter could only manage third and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing was fourth in the Classic FM list.

Presenter John Brunning said: "Musical fads come and go, but our love of singing traditional carols shows no sign of fading away."

Classic FM's top 10 carols: 1. O Holy Night; 2. Silent Night; 3. In The Bleak Midwinter (Gustav Holst version); 4. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing; 5. In The Bleak Midwinter (Harold Darke version); 6. O Come, All Ye Faithful; 7. O Little Town Of Bethlehem; 8. Away In A Manger; 9. Joy To The World; 10. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.
