Fans meet up with goalkeeping legend Edwin Van Der Sar in Dubai.

Edwin Van Der Sar dived to his right to push away Nicolas Anelka's penalty and win Manchester United the 2008 Champions League Final.

It's the Dutch goalkeeper's favourite moment in a Red Devils jersey - and one of 13-year-old Dubai-based United fanatic Laith Fraijat's as well.

"He told me he just remembers his team-mates running at him and it was the best feeling ever," said Fraijat (pictured below), who was lucky enough to chat to Van Der Sar at a meet-and-greet at Dubai Mall on Saturday.

The keeper - who also won the Champions League with Ajax in 1995 - was in town to help open 'GOAL! Junior', a new indoor children's football arena for kids aged between five and 15 at the mall. Fraijat, an academy player at Jebel Ali International - and coached by 7DAYS' very own columnist Derek Whyte, said Van Der Sar was an inspiration for young footballers.

"He holds the British record for the most number of clean sheets and was an outstanding goalkeeper." Van Der Sar won 130 caps for The Netherlands.

Little Sahil Dansingani, nine, got the now retired shotstopper to sign his Manchester United cap - and says it's something he'll treasure forever. "He was my favourite player," said the Indian national.

And even being an Arsenal fan didn't put Nahla Nasser off asking for a picture with the former Old Trafford goalie. The 23-year-old Egyptian (pictured above), whose parents live in Dubai, is a footballer with female French Division Three team ES16 in Paris.
