Falling down drunk loses.

A man left paralysed after falling off a bar stool lost his pounds 1million damages claim yesterday.

William Joy had drunk 13 vodkas and four pints when he fell off the stool in the Copper Room bar in Cookstown, Co Tyrone.

In a hearing last year, the court was told the accident in 1989 left Joy, 37, a virtual paraplegic.

But the High Court in Belfast yesterday rejected Joy's claim the landlord was negligent. They ruled the stool was only unsafe because of Joy's drunkenness.
