Falling birthrate.

Jordan ranked 104th in terms of population as the world population reaches 6.77 billion. The Department of Statistics (DoS) said Saturday that the Kingdom had witnessed a sharp demographic change during the second half of last century and the first decade of the 21st century, with the birthrate declining from 7.4 children in 1976, to 5.6 children in 1990 and 3.6 in 2007. Population growth rates dropped during the 1990s and early 2000s, falling by 4.4% between 1979 and 1994; 2.6% between 1994 and 2004; and by 2.2% during 2004 and 2008
