Fags for the memories!

Gone are the days when you could hand around the cigarettes at work, like these Newcastle girls were doing back in the 1960s/70s.

According to Fred Hamilton, who lent us the pictures, which are featured in the latest issue of Remember When, the girls worked for a firm near the High Level Bridge, but we're at a loss as to what they were doing.

If you know who these girls are, or where they worked, write to Ray Marshall, Remember When, Evening Chronicle, Groat Market, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 1ED, or e-mail

Remember When, Issue 48, on sale now, priced 50p.
